OUR PASTOR

Pastor Jon McConkey was born in Harrisburg, PA, in May 1982. He is the middle son of Thomas and Cynthia McConkey. Pastor McConkey grew up attending Bible Baptist Church in York, PA, under the ministry of Dr. Kevin E. Trout.

Pastor McConkey was saved as a 12 year old boy and soon after surrendered his life to the Lord. After high school he attended Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana, receiving a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Theology.

While at Bible College, Jon met Jami (Killough) from Greenbrier, AR. They were married on August 14, 2004.

Prior to being called to Jacksonville, NC, Pastor McConkey served as an Assistant Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lehighton, PA, and the Immanuel Baptist Church in Roscommon, MI. God called Pastor McConkey to Jacksonville in June 2011.

The McConkey family has been a blessing to Maranatha. Pastor Jon and Ms. Jami have three children: Jalyn (2007), Joel (2009), and Joyana (2012).

In January of 2020, at the age of 10, Joel was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Joel is now cancer-free, but is currently undergoing surgeries and treatment to lengthen the affected limb. Joel’s most recent surgery was on July 21, 2025, please pray for him and the McConkey family during this next stage of recovery and physical therapy.

OUR ASSISTANT PASTORS

Aaron Sessions was born in Burlington, IA, in May 1993. He grew up attending First Baptist Church in Wayland, MS, under the ministry of Pastor Dan Deatrick.

Pastor Aaron was saved at the age of nine and as a teenage boy he surrendered his life to God’s Will. He later attended Ambassador Baptist College in Shelby, NC, receiving a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies.

After graduating college, the Lord led Pastor Aaron into the Marine Corps where he served for five years. While stationed at Quantico, Aaron met Sarah (Johnson) from Orion, IL, who graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2017. They were married on June 13, 2020.

Upon PCSing to Camp Lejeune in August 2020, the Sessions joined Maranatha and began serving in the ministry. Ms. Sarah became the church secretary in the summer of 2022. Pastor Aaron was ordained and became an assistant pastor at Maranatha in February 2023. He oversees both the veteran ministry and the youth ministry.

Pastor Aaron and Ms. Sarah have one child, Remington (2024).

Craig St. Amour was born in Belleville, MI, in October 1978. As a child, he attended Metro Baptist Church in Belleville, MI, under the ministry of Pastor Dr. John Vaprezsan. As a teenager, he attended Berean Baptist Church in Adrian, MI under the ministry of Pastor Dr. Mike Cox.

Pastor Craig was saved as a young boy, and as a teenage boy he surrendered his life to God’s Will. As an adult Pastor Craig settled his doubts and got assurance of his salvation in 2015.

Pastor Craig attended Hyles-Anderson College, and graduated in 2003 with his Bachelor’s in Pastoral Theology and received his master’s degree in 2013. While at Hyles-Anderson he met Paula (Garrison) from Mesa, AZ. They were married on August 16, 2003. Pastor Craig and Mrs. Paula have been in full-time ministry since 2009.

In August 2025, Pastor Craig will become an Assistant Pastor here at Maranatha. He will be overseeing the bus ministry, and Mrs. Paula will become a part-time church secretary.

Pastor Craig and Mrs. Paula have six children: Aaron (2004), Amanda (2006), Adrienne (2008), Andrew (2010), Adam (2014), and Alan (2019).
